On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. DAVID BARTLETT (Da) David recently appeared in TR's original production of Adventure Road as 6 characters.  His previous TR shows were Parade, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and The Secret Garden.  He most often appears at TR as a thoroughly entertained audience member and season ticket holder since the very beginning!  He's such a clown... no, really!

JACK BOICE (Billy) Fáilte! Jack is “walking on moonbeams” to be back with Theatre Raleigh for Once.  You may remember him as Christian Grey in the hit off-Broadway show 50 Shades the Musical.  Many thanks to Lauren Kennedy Brady, Tim Seib, Wojcik Seay and the Theatre Raleigh team for this opportunity.  He would like to thank the incomparable Lisa Price and the amazing Price Group for their continued guidance.  His incredible Mom and Dad for their unwavering support.  Shannon for her undying love.  Of course God for His many gifts.  “‘Cause to live you have to love.” Sláinte!

COLSON DORAFSHAR (Svec) is excited to be back at Theatre Raleigh, having worked as an intern with the company in 2014. After finishing high school at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), Colson went on to train at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art; favorite LAMDA credits include Hamlet, Spring Awakening, The Cherry Orchard, and Cyrano de Bergerac. Colson is currently based in Los Angeles, and is grateful to be back in his hometown working with this amazing cast and crew.

MICHAEL KENNEDY (Emcee) Once: A whole lot of shows including TR's Rock of Ages, NCT's A Night with Janis Joplin. Twice: Jackson in TR's Pump Boys and Dinettes in '15, and again in '16 at Memorial Auditorium. Peter Pan (both at NCT) also comes to mind. Thrice: Carl Perkins in Million Dollar Quartet for TR, at Barton College (proud executive Theatre Committee member), and at Cape Fear Regional Theatre. Also Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Nothing four times, but several times over, thanks to family, friends, and sister Lauren for her support and for always finding a show in which her baby bro can play guitar on stage.

ANDREW NIELSON (Bank Manager) Recent NYC Theatre: The Unusual Tale of Mary and Joseph’s Baby (World Premiere Cast), The Zombie Family Musical, and several productions with The Barrow Group Theatre Company. As a cellist, Andrew has been heard in many pit orchestras and recordings, as well as in concert with artists including Alan Cumming, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Kate Baldwin, and many more. Andrew is also a writer and director whose work includes 23 episodes of Plant: The Second Coming (Indie Series Award winner, Official Selection - Nashville Film Festival), Dabblin' with Eustace and Laurie Brockovich, In The Desert Footlights (Sundance New Voices Lab Finalist), and numerous comedy sketches. MEGAN ORT (Reza) is thrilled to be playing Reza in Once! Megan is a New York based performer originally from Collegeville, PA. She made her Broadway debut in Cats understudying Grizabella and Jellylorum. Other credits include: Evita (1st National Tour), Soul Doctor (Lyceum Theatre), The Music Man (The Glimmerglass Festival),  Sweeney Todd (Piper Theatre Company), Cats (RCCL, Texas Family Musicals), and Alexa (Inwood Art Works). In October 2018, Megan will be part of the NYC International Fringe Festival, which is premiering The Yellow Wallpaper, a new play conceived, directed, and choreographed by her sister Caitlin Ort. Megan has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College.  Website:,  Instagram: @megan.ort

MORGAN PARPAN (Girl) is so grateful for the opportunity to participate in bringing this beautiful show to life in the Kennedy! Previous TR credits include: Steel Magnolias (Annelle), Vanities (Kathy), and The 25th Annual...Spelling Bee (Logainne). Other credits around town include: Les Misérables (Ensemble, u/s Eponine) at NCT, Ragtime  (Evelyn Nesbit) at JTP, and Man of La Mancha (Fermina) at Burning Coal. Thanks to Lauren, Tim, and Jo for letting me play with the cool kids, to the TR staff for always having my back, and to my parents for all the years of piano lessons. (It paid off, see?)

JON SKINNER (Andrej) returns home from New York City to follow up his performance in Pump Boys and Dinettes (Theatre Raleigh) with another multi-instrumental role. In addition to training at UCB and performing in NYC film productions, Jon has an extensive background in Raleigh theatre and has been a touring and studio musician for several years. Jon thanks Tim and Lauren, Michael, the cast and crew, Chelsea, Mom, and Uber.

EVA SMEDLEY (Ivanka) is excited to return to the Theatre Raleigh stage to be a part of Once!  Her previous Theatre Raleigh credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Mustardseed) and Carousel: A Concert (Snow Child).  Eva is in the fourth grade at The Raleigh School. She is also a student at NC Theatre Conservatory and North Carolina Dance Institute. Much love and gratitude to all involved with her for the support, opportunities, and growth.

TRACY THOMAS (Baruska) recently joined the faculty in the Theatre of Department and Dance at the University of Memphis as the voice teacher for the Musical Theatre degree program, after serving in the same capacity for seven years at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. DAVID TOOLE (Guy) is incredibly excited to rejoin his Theatre Raleigh family for one of the most beautiful and moving shows of this decade. Some of David’s favorite past musical performances include: Theatre Raleigh’s Rock of Ages (Drew); Front Porch Theatricals’ The Last 5 Years (Jamie Wellerstein); Carnivale Theatrics’ The Bridges of Madison County (Robert Kincaid), Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s Tarzan (Tarzan), Rent (Roger), West Side Story (Tony), Les Misérables (Marius); and The Little Mermaid (Prince Eric), Pittsburgh CLO’s Pump Boys and Dinettes (Jim), First Date (Reggie & Gabe.). Outside of theater and film work, he is one of 5 rotating National Anthem singers for the Pittsburgh Penguins professional hockey team, and is the frontman and co-songwriter for the band “Identity X” ( Later this fall Dave will return to Sanford to perform as Sam Wheat in Ghost the Musical with Temple Theater Company.
