 Information for Student Groups

We are so excited to have your group join us at the theatre!

Below you will find some information to help you facilitate your visit.

The 2018 Family Series features two shows:

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Adventure Road: A Story of Huck and Tom  (premiere!)

Matinee Schedule

Student matinees for both shows are scheduled for Tuesdays/Thursdays at 10am:

A Midsummer Night’s Dream March 6, 8, 13 & 15

Adventure RoadApril 17, 19, 24 & 26

Age Range

A Midsummer Night’s Dream: 5th grade and up

Adventure Road (premiere!): 3rd-8th grade

NOTE: While the grades listed above represent our “target” audience, we welcome groups of all ages! Last year, some of our Midsummer matinees entertained preschoolers and high school students at the same time – and all came away having enjoyed the experience!

Our seating configuration accommodates 85-105 students (depending on whether we have preschoolers or high schoolers in attendance). We offer floor seating on risers, with chairs available for parents and teachers.

All performances are General Admission. Groups typically arrive by 9:45am and are seated on a first-come, first-served basis. As seating is not assigned, those who arrive earlier are usually able to enter first.

The theatre doors will open for seating at 9:30am, but groups are welcome to meet in the lobby beginning at 9:15am. Additional space is available outside on our portico.

SHOW RUNTIME: 50 minutes

We recommend groups arrive no later than 9:45am. Larger groups are encouraged to arrive earlier, so that they can secure seating together when the doors open at 9:30am.

Groups arriving in individual cars may park in the Kennedy Theatre parking lot, located off S. Salisbury St.

Buses and vans can pull into the Kennedy Theatre parking lot (off S. Salisbury St.) and drop students off directly in front of the theatre. Bus/van parking is available on Kindley St. (across from the theatre on the other side of S. Salisbury). As S. Salisbury is a one-way street, vehicles must exit the theatre and loop around in order to park.

(NOTE: Please do not drop students off in front of the Duke Energy Center’s main facade (on South St.) We have our own parking lot around the back of the complex (on S. Salisbury St.) where the Kennedy Theatre is located!)

Upon arrival, you will see a covered portico with the “Kennedy Theatre” sign, and double glass doors leading into the lobby.

Both shows run at about 50 minutes. Buses/vans should plan to pick students up from the Kennedy Theatre portico beginning at 10:55am. (Some groups choose to stay after the show for talk-back sessions, photos, etc. Post-show activities are typically complete by 11:15am.)

Student tickets are $5 for groups of eight or more, plus sales tax. Teachers and chaperones are welcome to purchase $5 tickets as well.

To reserve tickets for your group, please contact Morgan Parpan at <>. Once your reservation is confirmed, we will send you an invoice for the total amount. Payment is due two weeks prior to your scheduled performance date.
